Set up the room, not just the camera
Most safety slips on a video call happen in the background, not in the conversation. A letter on the table, a school hoodie, a window with a recognisable street outside: strangers notice more than you think. Before the first call, glance at your own preview window for a moment.

Keep it about the conversation

Never pay a stranger. Ever.
Some people on random video call sites run a simple scheme: they get someone to do something on camera, then threaten to share a recording unless they are paid. If this happens to you, do not pay and do not keep talking. Paying rarely ends it.
Block and report the account, save screenshots of any messages, and contact support. If you feel you are in danger, contact your local police or emergency services. Nobody on CallMeChat, staff included, will ever ask you to send money outside the app.

Sign in only on callmechat.cam, never through a link a stranger sends you. Ignore any site promising free coins or unlocks; they are after your login. If you think someone has got into your account, sign out everywhere you can and contact the team.

What should I never share on a video call?
Your full name, address, school or workplace, phone number, social media handles, passwords and anything financial. A first name or nickname is enough.
Can the other person record me?
CallMeChat cannot stop someone from recording their own screen. Assume any call could be saved and act accordingly.
What happens after I report someone?
The report goes to a review team with the call details. Accounts that break the community guidelines can lose access. Blocking them also stops future matches with you.
Someone is threatening to share a recording. What do I do?

Can I stay anonymous on CallMeChat?
Other callers only see your nickname, your camera and your country. You can keep it that way by not sharing more, though CallMeChat keeps account records so reports can be reviewed.
Are minors allowed?
